Der Deutsche Hof (also seen as Der Deutscher Hof Hotel on some pieces) was Hitler's favorite hotel and was located in the center of Nuremberg. The Führer always stayed there when he visited this medieval city and it became his headquarters during the Party rallies held each September.

The hotel was so grateful for Hitler's endorsement and consistent presence that it had various flatware and serving pieces produced with the NSDAP symbols and swastikas. These pieces are normally of silver plate.

DEUTSCHERHOF #43008C Der Deutscher Hof Tea Pot

This small Tea Pot is a single cup type. It is different from the other Deutscher Hof types, being produced by Wellner and not Gebruder Hepp as they typically are.

The pot measures 4 ½ inches tall, with a hinged lid and knob handle. Of course there is the usual spout and handle. Deeply stamped into the left edge is "Der Deutscher Hof".

The bottom is marked "Wellner - Soehne / 20cl", being the maker and the capacity.

An appealing, high quality item here. The Wellner examples might have been used for special occasions. This is the first of this type I've seen.

Excellent Plus. $350.00

DEUTSCHERHOF #42999C Hotel Deutscher Hof Fish Knife & Fork

The Fish Knife measures 8 ½ inches long, and the fork 7 1/4. They have the same plain pattern, with only a raised line around the edges of the blade and the tines.

The reverse of the utensils are marked "Hotel Deutscher Hof / Nüremberg". Additionally they are maker marked "Wellner Soehne / 90", the latter indicating that they are silver plated.

A nice set of utensils here.

Excellent Plus. $225.00

DEUTSCHERHOF #39414 Der Deutscher Hof Hotel Five Piece Flatware Set

This set of DH flatware consists of a knife, a fork, a spoon, a fish knife and fish fork. These examples do show some wear, but they are rarely seen and very desirable. Each piece is marked on the front with a wreathed mobile swastika. The reverse of each is marked “BSF 100 PLATURA”. This indicates the pieces are silver plated. Each is also marked “Der Deutschser Hof”.

This silverware was ordered after the hotel was purchased by the Party in 1937, to reflect the new “political status” of the establishment. A fine opportunity to acquire a rarely seen full set of period flatware with a strong connection to history of the Party.

Excellent. $995.00

DEUTSCHERHOF #39416 Deutsche Hof Dinner Knife & Fork

This DH Dinner Knife & Fork were used in the dining service of the hotel. They show signs of mild use but are quite desirable just the same.

Both pieces are in excellent condition. Each is marked with a wreathed swastika on the front and “BSF 100 PLATURA” on the reverse. This indicates these pieces are silver plated.

This silverware was ordered after the hotel was purchased by the Party in 1937, to reflect the new “political status” of the establishment.

DEUTSCHERHOF #37128 Deustcher Hof Ice Cream Spoon

This DH Ice Cream Spoon are very long, measuring over 8 inches long. The spoon itself is about the size of a teaspoon, but with a long handle. Today we would probably think of this as an iced tea spoon or something to that effect. While the Germans are known to enjoy a good “teetied” I'm not sure they took it cold.

These spoons are plain on the obverse. The reverse is marked, in a rectangle, “Hotel Deustcher-Hof Nürnberg”. The spoon is also marked with the maker mark “Wellner Sohne 24”. The “24” would probably indicate that the spoon is silver plated.

A very nice item here, and a great artifact to add to a collection of Deustcher Hof silver.

Excellent Plus. $175.00
