This is a great-looking
peaked cap, being made of a soft dark brown oil skin or leather
fabric. It is in perfect condition - really nice, considering
it is nearly a century old. The brim, band and chin strap are
all in the same soft, matching leather. This cap has the same
look of the old bad-ass motorcycle type caps - looks like the
style Marlin Brando wore in the "Wild Ones" or whatever
that 1950's movie was called. The cap has a small proportion Imperial
Reich cockade at the upper peak. It has a black serrated outer
edge with white, then red, center circles. The paint is lifting
a little on the cockade, but still looks good. The cockade is
retained with thread through two holes in the center. On the front
band, below the cockade, there is sewn a slightly larger round
insignia. It has a black serrated outer circle, with white and
black inner. There is an Iron Cross depiction in the center. This
insignia would designate this hat had a Prussian owner. Inside,
the liner is a dark fabric material in perfect condition. It is
stamped with rectangular markings, one of which is, "R.K.A.
1", and is dated, "1915". I believe this stands
for, Reich Kraftfahr Abteilung, but this is just a guess
on my part, as I am not that familiar with Imperial units. The
leather sweat band is in excellent condition. The "Kraftfahrer"
were drivers or motorcycle personnel - in fact, this hat has the
look of a 1920s or 1930s chauffeur's cap, which obviously must
have been designed after the military look or vice versa. The
cap comes with a set of Imperial woolen shoulder slip-on boards,
trimmed with blue piping. In the center of both, is a large, red
brocade "K" letter. Good-looking package, here, and
in great shape, as well as being quite rare.

Veterans Peaked Cap
This Veterans
peaked cap is in fine condition throughout, except for the fact
that it could use reblocking. The cap is a beautiful, deep color,
blue-black wool. The wool throughout is in perfect condition.
The outside band is a ribbed material, which has embossed swastikas
and symbols of the Veterans War Memorial, the Kyffhäuser,
alternating throughout the band. These designs are quite impressive,
indeed. There is the aluminum insignia, which consists of a veterans
open-winged eagle, with swastika. At the birds chest is
a set of crossed swords, and an Iron Cross superimposed. Below
this, is the Reich cockade, having a wreath of oak leaves around
it. The patent leather brim and chin strap are in excellent condition.
The inside is a contrasting lighter blue-ribbed silk material,
having a completely intact celluloid diamond. This diamond displays
the trademark of the Veterans Organization, being a shield
shape, having an Iron Cross with swastika in the center. Once
again, this is an outstanding hat, which with reblocking, would
be in mint condition. Near Mint $195.00
This fine helmet
is painted in the apple green color. The paint is in outstanding
condition throughout showing minor age and a few signs of being
around but all in all, it rates at least 95%. The helmet is the
Austrian type shell having the two Frankenstein type rivets. Below
each rivet, there is an air vent and also a rivet which retains
the chinstrap mechanism. Positioned between the air vent and the
lower rivet is a closed wing Wehrmacht eagle with swastika decal.
The eagle has been rubbed in the center area and the rubbing goes
up to the right wing but still the rest of the decal looks fine.
This decal rates easily at 90%. The National insignia on the right
hand side is also positioned between the vent and rivet and it
features the blue, white and red colors. This insignia is nearly
all there rating at about 80%. It is very difficult to find a
helmet which looks this good on the outside. The inside liner
is the M31 type and all eight tongues are in place and gathered
with the original drawstring. One of the tongues is marked, "56"
being the size of the helmet. The inside helmet has the two brackets
remaining from the original chinstrap device. The now present
chinstrap from the Third Reich period is properly attached to
the liner hardware and is original to this piece. The reverse
of the helmet is marked with a stamping of a bear and beneath
that is the number "64". There are also two brackets
which are welded to either side of the inner brim. I understand
these brackets were for a hanging attachment for a saddle, indicating that this
helmet would have been used by Cavalry troops. A very fine collectible
example missing from most collections.Excellent Plus, Plus (20705) $1395.00
UNIFORM - 066 - POLICE SHAKO PROTECTIVE COVER
This
Cover is in a field gray color and appears to be made out of a
cotton canvas-like material. It exactly fits over a Police Officer
shako including the decorative cockade at the top. This cover
also has a slot in each side which I am not sure for the purpose.
The brim areas of the front and the rear of the cover have a hard-like
substance sewn inside of them. I tried this cover over an Officer's
shako and it fits perfectly. I believe that these Protective Covers
are quite rare.

UNIFORM - 067 - LUFTWAFFE LEATHER FLYING HELMET
This
Leather Flying helmet is in very fine condition. The leather is
still supple throughout and, in fact, it is in new-like condition.
The helmet contains the built in earphones and the neck strap
contains the built-in microphones. There are two of them and printed
on the bake-o-lite outside is, "Mi4b", and below, is,
"Ln.26779-2". The same verbiage is printed on the other
throat mike. The chinstrap is a double leather affair which has
a buckle and hasp for each strap. As stated above, all of this
leather is in perfect condition. There is also a wire with four
pronged plug having a bake-o-lite housing. This wire would have
plugged into the dash area of the airplane cockpit for conversation
with other crew members. This helmet is lined with beautiful soft
white leather on the edge over the forehead and the rest of it
is lined with white lamb's fleece. The fleece is in perfect condition.
There is also a tag sewn inside indicating the helmet is made
by "Siemens / Lieferert Luftfahrt - ". There is also
details as to the helmet specifications. The main part, though,
is that of the size, "55". An outstanding example that
is ready to wear, ready to use, or ready to put on your mannequin.

UNIFORM - 078 - PRUSSIAN OFFICER'S ARTILLERY BALL TOPPED PICKELHAUBE
This
is a fairly nice conditioned ball-topped Artillery Officer's helmet.
The leather shows no crazing in the finish. It is an overall even
dull black color, but this could easily be shined up much brighter
if someone wanted to do it. Both the front brim and the reverse
brim are also in good condition, the front brim showing no crazing
at all, and the back brim having just the slightest. The face
plate is the standard Prussian type having the Prussian eagle
with "FR" raised out of the breast area. The eagle has
the ribboned slogan, "Mit Gott für Koenig und Vaterland".
This bird carries a scepter in one claw and an orb in the other.
The eagle is all finished in gilded brass. The top of the helmet
has the ball decoration ending which is what was worn by Artillery
Officers. There is some beading around the neck of the ball's
pedestal and the area is retained to the helmet with two bosses.
There are corresponding brass nuts below. There are two holes
on the top which are missing the hardware. The helmet is equipped
with matching gilded brass officer's chin scales. The overall
gilding throughout these brass fittings is about 90-95%. There
are cockade behind the two chinstrap endings. These cockades are
red, white and black, and the other is black, white and blue.
The inside of the helmet has a fine tan kidskin inner brim area.
There is a name written in pencil inside, as well as the size,
"58". There is no other liner inside of this helmet
just the inner brim. A very nice display item here which would
clean up substantially. A fine helmet to go with an Artillery
motif sword.

UNIFORM - 084 - (24102) - DJ BLACK WOOL OVERSEAS CAP
This DJ black
overseas cap is in very choice perfect condition recently acquired
from a veteran source. The cap is the style having simulated earflaps,
but they are tacked into position and do not come down. The peak
area has a folded part and the entire cap rests flat on a surface.
The inside is lined with black cotton material. This woolen fabric
is in perfect condition with no moths or any problems. Affixed
to the left side of the front of the cap is an original Hitler
Youth shooting award. It consists of a round target type device
with two crossed rifles. Superimposed over the crossed rifles
is a miniature Hitler Youth diamond enameled insignia. This insignia
has red and white enameling with a black swastika in the center.
This insignia is black patinated so I assumed it is silvered underneath.
It does not look to have ever been removed from the cap. A fine
original item here.
