THIRD REICH INSIGNIA SECTION

INSIGNIA - 001 - 26470C - NATIONAL HUNTING ASSOCIATION BROCADE INSIGNIA

This Hunting insignia is an oval shape, being 4½ inches long and about 3½ inches wide. The insignia is a green felt material. Running around the outside border is a very fine bullion being in a thin tress. Inside of the insignia is a brocade aluminum bullion stag head. The stag has large antlers and the details to the deer head have been enhanced through the use of black thread against the aluminum bullion. On either side of the stag’s head are the initials of the organization respectively “D”“J”. In the center between the two antlers is a mobile swastika. This swastika is a black color and is superimposed over a set of aluminum bullion sun rays. This insignia would have originally been sewn to the sleeve of a Hunting Association tunic. This does not look as though it has ever been issued. A real beauty here! Mint. $295.00

INSIGNIA - 002 - 26552 - BLACK SET OF SIGNAL FLAGS

This set of flags are sewn to an oval shaped woolen base. The flags have yellow staffs and appear to have been a red and white color when new. The red has faded slightly on these signal flags. This insignia apparently goes with a Kriegsmarine outfit. Excellent. $30.00

INSIGNIA - 003 - 26469C - DLV INSIGNIA

This DLV insignia is a rectangular form measuring about 4½ by 2½ inches. The background is a white silk-like fabric. Sewn into the center area is the early DLV insignia. It consists of a pair of open gray colored wings which are trimmed in black. At the center is a black trimmed propellor and superimposed over the propellor is a black mobile swastika. In the background, there are three circles of gray, red and gray colors. This insignia appears to be a bevo weave. It would be nice displayed with a DLV glider pilot dagger. Excellent Plus. $95.00

INSIGNIA - 005 - 26457 - ALUMINUM LUFTWAFFE WINGED COCKAIDE

This all-aluminum cockaide is for installation on a Luftwaffe cap band. It features a red and black with aluminum mixture cockaide in the center. INSIGNIA - 007 - 26548 - IMPERIAL BAVARIAN SHOULDER BOARD

This red velvet shoulder board is a rectangular shape, being pointed slightly on one end. It measures 5 inches in length by about 2¼ inches in width. It is composed of a red woolen material on the upper portion and a blue woolen material on the lower. Woven into the material is the group number “32". There is also a brass button affixed which would hold the board in place after it is sewn in to the shoulder of the tunic on the other end. This would make a good display item with some other Bavarian Imperial paraphernalia. Excellent. $15.00

INSIGNIA - 008 - 26459 - POLITICAL LEADER CAP COCKAIDE

This cockaide is quite elaborate, being a two-staged affair. At the outside border there is red lined enamel. Affixed to this is a nickel lined disc which has a black enamel “floating” swastika in the center. The reverse of this item is RZM marked and has the code “M1/34". A great item if you have one missing from your cap. This would also make a good display artifact. Excellent Plus. $50.00

INSIGNIA - 009 - 26005C - SET OF SA OBERFÜHRER COLLAR TABS

This set of SA collar tabs has a red wool backing. In the center of each is a beautiful set of brocade aluminum oak leaves. There are two of them and at the stem are three bullion acorns. Beautiful work here! The tab is bordered with a white twisted cord. On the opposite side, the tabs reflect hand-stitching to a burlap material which shows in the center. This is an outstanding set of original SA General’s collar tabs. It would make a great display with a full Roehm dagger. Excellent Plus. $1,195.00

INSIGNIA - 010 - 26541 - LUFTWAFFE BREAST EAGLE

This Luftwaffe breast eagle is for an enlisted man and it has a gray wool backing with a white woven eagle. The Luftwaffe eagle has outstanding detail throughout and flies to the viewer’s right. This bird grasps a mobile swastika in his talons. The edges of the material appear to have once been sewn to a tunic. This would still go nicely on another tunic showing some modest wear. Excellent Plus. $40.00

INSIGNIA - 011 - 26460 - SA/SS CAP EAGLE

This cap eagle is the small, stubby-winged type that was used prior to 1936. This eagle has open wings with his head pointing to the viewer’s right. He grasps a wreath containing a mobile swastika. The swastika is in black, contrasting with the silvered highlights of this insignia. The reverse has one prong intact behind the swastika and the other prong, which would have been attached to the area behind the eagle’s breast, is gone to time. Still, a great, original piece and a good display item. Near Mint. $65.00

INSIGNIA - 012 - 26539 - LAND CUSTOMS CUFF TITLE

This Land Customs cuff title is a cuff band which is an inch and a quarter in width. The band is of a green cotton fabric which is bordered with nice aluminum brocade. In the center of the cuff title is a Land Customs eagle. This eagle is also done in aluminum brocade. The bird has open wings with tips which go upward and his head looks to the viewer’s left. The bird grasps a wreath which contains a mobile swastika. A beautiful cuff title here, which would display great with a Land Customs dagger.Mint. $250.00

INSIGNIA - 013 - 26536 - KRETA CUFF TITLE

This Kreta cuff title is a beauty. It measures about an inch and a quarter in width. It is composed of a white cotton fabric which is bordered with fine yellow banding. In the center area, the word “KRETA” is printed in capital letters. The word is flanked with figures which appear to be wheat-like stalks. This original Kreta cuff title does not appear to have been issued. It would display great next to a Gravity knife or some other paratrooper militaria. Mint. $595.00

INSIGNIA - 014 - 26535 - KRETA CUFF TITLE

This Kreta cuff title is about an inch and a quarter in width. It is a white cotton fabric and has borders of double yellow raised cord lines. In the center is the word “KRETA” in capital letters, which is flanked by three wheat-like symbols. The insignia has been slightly torn in the area to the right of the wheat shafts and there is a lot of wear and some staining at the right end of the cuff title. It still shows quite well and can be nicely displayed with some other Luftwaffe paratrooper militaria. Not a mint artifact here, but absolutely original. Excellent Minus. $395.00

INSIGNIA - 015 - 25018 – Luftwaffe Captain’s Artillery Collar Tabs

These Luftwaffe Captain’s Artillery collar tabs are quite striking, having a red felt background. The collar tabs have a fine aluminum brocade cord, which runs around the perimeter. At the bottom, there is a brocade wreath, which is accented with shiny material, to give a good look. Above the wreath are three flying birds, which also have the same highlighting. The reverse of these tabs reveals an off-white burlap base material. These tabs are in excellent condition throughout, with no mothing. Near Mint $125.00

INSIGNIA - 016 - 25352 – Waffen-SS Polizei Division Cloth Sleeve Badge

This sleeve badge was worn by SS Polizei Division soldiers, when they returned to their normal police duties. The patch was worn on the lower sleeve. It consists of a diamond shape, gabardine black material, which has a silver colored woven Police eagle, with wreath in the center. This diamond shaped insignia is identical to the one shown on page 317, of the Angolia SS Insignia book. The reverse of the badge reveals the burlap-style material, that served as a base. This is a fairly rare, original insignia.Mint $395.00

INSIGNIA- 017 - ARMY OFFICER SHOULDER BOARD WITH STALINGRAD CROSS

This Leutnant grade shoulder board is the identical piece that appears in Angolia's “Führer and Fatherland” Book on page 74 and 75. I purchased it from the individual who bought it from Angolia when Jack sold his medals’ collection. This shoulder board is a standard type having fine gray cording consisting of eight strips rounded at one end. This cording is applied to a white color Infantry felt bottom. The cording and felt is in totally perfect condition. Applied to the center area of the cords, is an aluminum cross highlighted with a blue color in the legs. This cross has four evenly sized legs which flare outward at the ends in the Maltese design. Each leg has a pebble pattern with a floral design at the end of it. There is a blue background applied to the center area of each leg. In the center of the cross is an open winged, Army eagle which clutches a swastika. Beneath this eagle is a ribboned slogan, "Stalingrad". Apparently, this cross was given to commemorate the bravery of the 384th Infantry division which was destroyed at Stalingrad in January 1943. The new division that was mustered must have worn this decoration in tribute. Collectors tell me that this is an extremely rarely seen honorarium. It is in fine condition and looks exactly like it did when it was pictured in the Angolia Book. A great item for insignia collectors.
Near Mint (23953) $495.00

INSIGNIA-018- EARLY SA COLLAR TAB

This collar tab is of pre 1939 construction and looks exactly like the black and white photo on page 172, lower, of the cloth SA book by Angolia. This collar tab has three pips and therefore is the rank of SA-Obersturmführer. Apparently it comes from the area of Westmark / Niedersachsen as it is in a dark brown felt background color. Beneath the three pips are two white lines which signify the higher rank. This SA tab is piped with a black and white alternating cording. On the reverse it can be seen the cloth covers a burlap style interior. These early tabs are quite rare and would look really good displayed with a nice early SA dagger.
Excellent Plus, Plus (22916) $175.00

This fine set of tabs are for the high rank of Oberst Lt. They have beautiful tan/brown felt backing. They feature full bullion weaved oak leafed wreath surrounding two weaved bullion birds. They are trimmed with narrow aluminum bullion piping.

INSIGNIA-022- 26540 – “HORST WESSEL” KRIEGSMARINE HATBAND

This hatband is the full 60 inch length. Apparently, it has never been issued. The hatband itself is a black lined material which measures slightly more than an inch in thickness. In the center is a gold woven name of the ship to which the recipient would have been assigned. In this case, it is written in gothic German in yellow gold “Segelschulschiff Horst Wessel”. The Horst Wessel was the sailing ship that the Kriegsmarine used to train new sailors. The ship was quite a beautiful thing, having three masts and a fine, white superstructure. At the end of the war, this ship was captured by the United States Navy and, today, is used by the United States Coastguard to train our new sailors and it has been renamed “Eagle”. This set of cap cords is in choice, pristine, mint condition. Mint. $250.00

INSIGNIA-023- 26537 – JAGDGESCHWADER UDET CUFF TITLE

This Luftwaffe cuff title was worn after the death of General Udet, who committed suicide on 17 November 1941. Udet was a friend of Herman Göring’s and was made the Chief Air Armaments Officer of the Luftwaffe, a job which he could not handle. His ineptness, combined with alcoholism, caused the suicide but, since he was such a popular man with the Luftwaffe, the general public was told that he died testing a new aircraft. Members of Jagdgeschwader 3 wore this cufftitle. This example is of all dark blue wool and it measures about an inch and a quarter in width. It has a sewn border on both edges and in the center is raised white thread sewn in the bevo fashion. It is very beautifully done and appears to be unissued. Mint. $495.00

This cuff title is bordered with a matching, fine silver thread cordlike fabric. The cuff title is in choice condition and does not appear to have been sewn on a sleeve. The Grossdeutschland cuff title is a very popular collectible. Mint. $750.00

This patch is a colorful item which is bevo sewn on a white background. It which measures approximately 2 ½ inches by 4 inches. The depiction is in a shield shape. At the top is the black district of "Saar", and beneath, is an Imperial-like helmet. The helmet rests on a red weave, and below this, are the colorful shields of Bavaria featuring blue checkering and a split black and white shield. I assume this shield represents the Saar area. INSIGNIA-041- NAVAL NCO BREAST EAGLE

This Naval breast eagle is approximately 4 ½ inches in width. The eagle is a beautiful gold / yellow weaved material which is nicely vaulted from the naval woolen background base. Near Mint (23667) $75.00

INSIGNIA-042 - 25628 - ARMY OFFICER’S BREAST EAGLE

This Army breast eagle is hand-made of beautiful buillon thread. There are bright threads which accent the feathered areas that come out of the body of the eagle. The same bright accent threads have been used in the wreath and swastika below. The breast eagle is sewn to a dark green wool background. On the reverse, there is residue of paper material which originally covered the entire area. This breast eagle has some traces of thread where it may have been taken off of a uniform. A very beautiful item here, and perfect for display with an Army dagger. Mint. $75.00

INSIGNIA-043 - 26200 - SS NCO SLEEVE EAGLE

This Sleeve Eagle is the type that is a white cotton weave over a darker black wool backing. This Army bullion Breast eagle appears to be an officer type. It is a field gray fabric backing, having the eagle formed of bullion thread highlighted with green thread. INSIGNIA-057- 26860 - LAND CUSTOM OFFICIAL’S SHOULDER BOARD

This Land Custom Official’s shoulder board is a fine green wool color base having bullion strands of material on the upper part mixed with green. There is also a gold pip on one end and a beautifully defined Wehrmacht eagle which is in a gilt surface. This eagle has tremendous definition, and the backgrounds of the feathering are muted with the clutched swastika being bright gold, providing great contrast. This shoulder board is a sewn-in type.
Excellent Plus Plus. $150.00

INSIGNIA-059- 26828 - NAVAL NCO BREAST EAGLE

Excellent Plus. $50.00

INSIGNIA-066- 26923 - UNISSUED ARTILLERY SHOOTING AWARD LANYARD

This Artillery Lanyard is quite rarely seen. It features at one end a loop and slide, and, underneath, it is an oval disc which portrays the Wehrmacht closed-winged eagle with swastika positioned over a shield of crossed swords. An oval wreath of oak leaves goes around the display. Coming downward is a pigtail-like lanyard which is looped at the opposite end. Bevo weaved into the center of the white cotton is a black, open-winged army eagle which clutches a wreathed mobile swastika. The detail is outstanding to this weaving. This insignia would make a nice display with other Army memorabilia.Excellent Plus. $50.00

INSIGNIA-071- 26950 - GILDED CUSTOMS DISC

This customs disc appears to have been made of pressed aluminum and it is oval shaped. It measures approximately 3¼ inches at the high point and its diameter is about 2¼ inches. In the center is an open-winged eagle which looks to the viewer’s left. The eagle retains a wreathed mobile swastika in his claws. The bird is not the Customs type, but the writing around the top of the medallion seems to indicate it had something to do with Customs services. The pressed out writing is “Reichsfinanzverwaltung/Zollgrensschutz-“. Obviously, this has something to do with the Finance and Customs Bureaus of the Reich, but I can’t find it in any books, so I don’t know what it is. The gilded appearance would tend to point towards a Sea Customs function, but, again, I don’t know. At the bottom of the medallion is a stamped number in a small plaque “26462". The backgrounds of the medallion are pebbled and there is a double line border. Excellent Plus Plus. $75.00(#041608)
