ADOLF HITLER SILVERWARE SECTION

On occasion I am fortunate enough to offer some of the silver, flatware and serving pieces specifically made for the residences of Adolf Hitler. The "AH" silverware mostly seen by collectors today was made by the Bruckmann firm of Heilbronn. (There are other patterns produced by other companies, but they are much rarer and do not seem as collectible.) The Bruckmann flatware was produced in two pattern types. The most prevalent (and most desirable because of its detail), is the so-called "Formal" pattern. This pattern displays a detailed, raised-out, closed-winged Party eagle with swastika, and has the Führer's monogram, "A" and "H" positioned respectively on each side of the wreath. Additionally the handle is bordered with an attractive design known as "Greek key". The so-called "Informal" pattern contains the eagle and monogram only, and the stylized eagle design is depicted with little detail. (These pieces inaccurately almost convey a look of substantial wear on the surfaces of the bird). This pattern, however, seems to be much rarer. It is not known why the "Informal" pattern was produced, but it is thought to have been possibly used as a "luncheon" pattern, and only at one of the larger residences - perhaps at the Reich Chancellery. It is generally believed there were approximately 3000 pieces of the "Formal" pattern produced, and about 1000 pieces of the "Informal". Obviously serving pieces such as an asparagus fork or sugar tongs would have been produced in far less quantity than standard forks, knives and spoons. Either pattern is hallmarked in the identical manner, and the marks appear stamped in line, being a crescent, a crown, "800" and a Prussian eagle. Serving trays and larger serving utensils are not usually silver per se, but are normally silvered plate. These pieces generally were produced by the Wellner firm, and are stamped with a "W", and usually a silver plating content number. In recent years "AH" silver items have really come into their own. Prices continue to rise, and in my opinion, are a tremendous investment. They are a great collectible in that examples are still obtainable, but since quantities are limited, demand continues to drive the prices upward. Own something produced for the use of the Führer himself - what could have more appeal to 3rd Reich collectors!

AHSIL - 001 - AH SILVER LEMON SQUEEZER

This device is quite cleverly designed and is in the shape of a lemon wedge having two handles. The top section of the hinged device squeezesthe lemon and works rather well. The upper handle area has an open NSDAP style eagle clutching a swastika. The reverse of this silver piece is marked, "Ritter Citro" and beneath this, is the word, "patent". This indicates that there was a patent on this clever design. The maker mark is from “Krupp Berndorf”. I have one of these lemon squeezers in my own collection and I know that they were a part of the AH service. A fine original item here which you can use to juice up your iced tea!
Near Mint (23019) $495.00

SS REICH FLATWARE

The below silver plate and flatware are all marked, and each body was used by the SS Panzer division of “SS Reich”. Each piece is individually guaranteed to be original. These pieces were purchased as one lot from an army major, who served in the United States Engineer Corps. Some of this tableware is stainless and some is silver plated. We have marked the different types accordingly. Each and every piece is stamped onto the reverse handle, “SS Reich”. Some pieces are stamped “SS-VT Reich”. These pieces would make for a nice display with other SS material.

They are in perfect condition and most likely belong to perhaps the Commandant of the regiment, but I don’t know. They are priced reasonably and could be a fine research project. $100.00

ADOLF HITLER OWNED CRYSTAL AND PORCELAIN

This crystal and porcelain listed below comes from Hitler’s mountain home located above Berchtesgaten. This beautiful china and crystal was liberated by Dr. Jess T. Schwidde. Dr. Schwidde was a neurologist who was assigned to the Third Army division, having first joined the unit in the early Italian campaign. He found himself in Berchtesgaten as the war was ending and had the opportunity to explore and “liberate” many items which were contained within Hitler’s “Berghof”, as well as Herman Göring and Martin Bormann’s homes. The items that I have purchased were through a joint venture with my friend and Max Show partner, Lieutenant Colonel (Retired) Thomas M. Johnson. We met with the two sons of the late Dr. Schwidde and obtained copies of many letters written home concerning the artifacts liberated by Dr. Schwidde. Also we have signed, notarized statements indicating that all of the below items came from the “Berghof”. Copies of these documents will be supplied with each purchase. Unfortunately, there are no swastikas or other political symbols on any of the porcelain or crystal. These items were the personal property of Hitler and according to Dr. Schwidde’s letters, were removed from Hitler’s personal dining room cabinet. The list below is offered with my unconditional guarantee that these items were the personal property of Adolf Hitler and come from the “Berghof”.

AHSIL - 048 - 25890 - PLATTERHOF HOTEL CRYSTAL CHAMPAGNE GOBLET

This crystal champagne goblet is quite beautiful, being clear throughout and measuring approximately 4 inches in height. The glass is etched on one side with an oval design having a tulip at the top rim. Inside of the oval is featured an Alpine dressed woman standing between two mountains. This crest was the logo of the infamous Platterhof Hotel. The Platterhof was originally built to entertain Party members at little cost wanting an Alpine excursion. It turned out that the hotel was mainly used to garrision important personages waiting to see Hitler. At the end of WWII, the U.S. Army took over the Platterhof and renamed it the General Walker Hotel. It was given back to Germany a couple of years ago and the Bavarian government knocked it down in favor of building a new hotel. A beautiful, historic crystal champagne glass here. Mint. $395.00

AHSIL - 054 - 25950C - PERSONAL BRASS STAMP OF REICH CHANCELLOR ADOLF HITLER

This stamp measures approximately 5.5 inches long. The handle is a rounded wood type and the stamp itself is fashioned of a brass material. Along the edge of the lower portion, there is the number, “168", and after this, is an open-winged eagle with swastika. Assumedly, this is some type of proofing method that was done by the manufacturer. At the bottom of the brass stamp is the raised out Political open-winged eagle with wreath swastika. The number, “5", is below the wreath. Along the outer edge, raised-out and printed backwards, is the legend “Kanzlei des Führers des NSDAP”. This stamp was taken from Hitler’s office at the Reich Chancellory. Along with the stamp comes some Hitler stationary. The Veteran has written a letter on the Führer’s stationary. He sent the letter home to his family. It is dated “4 Oktober 1945". This is the gold embossed stationary which features the Political eagle and swastika with the name “Adolf Hitler” below it. At the top is the location, “Berlin, Den”. There is an additional piece of stationary which is printed in black at the upper left, “Adolf Hitler”, and on the right, “Berlin w8", then beneath that, “Kanzlei des Führers/der NSDAP amt I”. Beneath this is the word, “Den”, and on the left side, is the word “Aktenzeichen”. This stationary is blank and has not been used. This is a great grouping of items which come directly out of the Third Reich Chancellory. You can now stamp your personal correspondence with Hitler’s personal Chancellory stamping as you like! Excellent Plus. $1,995.00

AHSIL - 055 - 26045C - ADOLF HITLER LARGE SILVER TRAY

This large AH silver plated tray was most likely used as a meat serving vessel. It is oval shaped and measures 21 inches long and 14 inches at its widest point in the center. It appears to have a silver plate finish, most likely over a nickel base. In the center upper rim of the tray, the Political half open-winged eagle is engraved with the Führer’s initials on either side of the wreathed swastika respectively, “A.H.”. The engraving is very deep and is identical in format to the eagle engraved on the plate shown in the Mark Griffith AH book on Page 47. The shape of the tray is the same as the one shown on Page 49, however, the monogram is on the rim with this piece, not in the center, as the book piece shows. The reverse of the tray is marked by the producer, “Wellner 82". I assume the “82" could mean a possible model style or whatever. There is a serial number also on this tray. It is marked in very small numbers on the under rim “147124". This is an extremely rare, very large tray and would make a great centerpiece for other AH memorabilia. Excellent Plus. $4,995.00

AHSIL - 061 - 26793 - ADOLF HITLER MONOGRAMMED TAN LINEN NAPKIN

This AH tan linen napkin is identical to the example shown in the Griffith book in the “linens section”. The cloth is a finely sewn fabric having a beige color tinge to it. There is a border which runs around the napkin which shows a separation via a white stitch pattern. At one corner of the napkin, there is a brocade, closed-winged political eagle. The brocade is done in white and most likely all hand-stitched. The eagle is highly detailed with his feathering being shown with darker thread. This eagle is the half open-winged type looking to the viewer’s left. In his claws is a smooth wreath and inside is a mobile raised swastika. On either side of the wreath are the Führer’s initials “AH”, respectively. This is a great item to display with some “AH” monogrammed silverware. A beautiful, authentic example in choice mint condition. Mint. $895.00(#021208)

AHSIL - 063 - 26637 - DINNER FORK FROM THE RIBBENTROP DINNER SERVICE

This beautiful fork comes from the Diplomatic dinner service used by Ribbentrop for entertaining. The fork is quite beautiful, measuring about 7¾ inches in length. The handle is a staged size, being wider at the bottom area and getting thinner as it moves toward the area where the fork stem begins. At the lower portion of the handle, centered, is a closed-wing political eagle which grasps an immobile swastika in a wreath. The reverse of the fork is hallmarked with the silver content “925". Additionally, it is marked with the hallmarks of a crescent, lantern and Prussian eagle. The name of the producer also appears, “Bruckmann”. A very nice item showing some wear, but still in nice condition.Excellent Plus. $495.00

The obverse has a raised out, closed-wing political eagle clutching an immobile swastika. The blade is hallmarked with a lantern, crescent and Prussian eagle and silver mark “925". The maker name “Bruckmann” is stamped next to this. Excellent Plus. $495.00(#021208)

TABLE FLAT WEAR FROM KLEISSHEIM CASTLE

The below table service comes from Klessheim Castle. This castle was located over the border from Obersalzberg, looking over the border from Obersalzberg in Austria. The Klessheim Castle was located near Saltzburg. Many of the dignitaries, that were waiting to see Hitler, were housed at Kleissheim Castle, as it was not far from the Burghof. This castle was maintained as a government residence, and therefore, had its own flatware pattern that was used for meal service. The below pieces come directly from Kleissheim, and they bear the markings of the Arthur Krupp firm, located in Berndorff. These pieces are silver plate, and they are marked on the reverse “50” and “90”. I believe that the “90” marking, found on silver plate, designates that 10% of the material was the silvering, and the “90” would have been a mixture of metals for the base material.

AHSIL - 079 - 27170C - Cased Set of Six Goering Demitasse Spoons

This set of six demitasse spoons is very impressive. The case itself is a leatherette covered wood base box, which measures about 7 inches by 4 inches. It has a single brass locking latch in the center, which opens the lid. The inner lid is a horsehair padded type, having light blue satin covering. There is a ribbon which stretches across the covering, which has the producer’s name in gilded printing, “Maxen da sonnenschei/Hildeshein/Flmsstr. 35”. The inner lid shows some age, but still is in good shape. The inner box has six separate slots for the storage of the demitasse spoons. All of the spoons are in place, and they measure approximately 5 inches in length. They are quite delicate, and on the handle area, have a professionally engraved shield, which contains the crest of Hermann Goering, being a chain mailed arm with a fist grabbing a ring. The shield device is very well engraved, having shaded areas around the chain mail. The reverse of the spoon is marked “800”. Next to the silver content is a crescent and crown, and to the left is what looks to be a miniature horses head. These spoons are quite beautiful and were, obviously, a part of the Goering table setting. This is a great opportunity to own a rarely seen set of Goerings’ personal table service.
