ACCOUT&P #39360 SS-VT Bayonet Troddel with Tag

This SS-VT Bayonet Troddel would be very desirable for anyone looking to complete an SS Dress Bayonet or K-98.

The slide and cap are a rich blue color, with a red stem. The lower ball is in the speckled black and white pattern unique to the SS. The insert at the lower portion of the ball matches the strapping.

The original paper tag is attached to this piece. It has the traditional SS printings in black and is rubber stamped “21”, with a run number of “216723”. The tag shows a little age and wear but is intact and legible.

ACCOUT&P #36739 Large Size Army Officer's Sword Portepee

We were lucky enough to acquire some unissued Army leather strapping pieces in full length that were leftover from the end of the war. These straps were attached to the lower ball with a stem, but sadly the ball was missing. We where able to salvage a lower bullion ball which nicely complements the leather strap.

This is a great opportunity to acquire a fine, restored period portepee, and is priced accordingly.

Excellent Plus, Plus. $95.00

ACCOUT&P #36705C Army EM Bayonet Troddel

This Army Enlisted Man's Troddel has been on a bayonet and shows some usage as well as soiling. The strapping is a gray, silk-like material, having a textured pattern in the center. Although there is no visible fraying, there are signs of wear on the edges of the straps.

The slide and cap are a matching gray color, also soiling some soiling. The stem is of a red, silk-like material, while the lower ball also appears to be gray with an insert material that exactly matches the strapping.

A good example here for a bayonet showing modest wear.

Excellent. $95.00

ACCOUT&P #36702C Police Sword/Bayonet Portepee

This portepee is the cloth style that could be worn on either a Police degen or a bayonet. The cloth fabric is in excellent condition throughout, and is set in place as though it was originally tied to a bayonet frog. This method would work the best with this portepee, but it could also work on a sword as the fabric would easily give to a different configuration.

The fabric is decorated with triple aluminum stitching which runs the length, with a red highlight stitch in the center. The slide is a woven leather example, having decorative red and bullion construction. The stem is a flat type, having a crochet-like bullion covering revealing the bullion beneath. The oval acorn ball is of all yarn-like bullion. The insert is interesting as it is of black and red bullion; this is the first time I've ever seen this style. I assume it was just a method that was accomplished by a certain manufacturer.

A very nice portepee here.

Near Mint. $150.00

ACCOUT&P #36699C Early Black SS Sword Troddel

This SS Sword Troddel is constructed of black leather strapping, having triple aluminum bullion wire stitching that runs the length. The original tie strings still on this leather. The leather, however, is still supple.

The slide is a woven leather type, with bullion highlights. The stem below is the flat style, covered in crochet-like material. The metal below shows in between the bullion material.

The oval acorn ball is constructed of yarn-like bullion, and the insert is a dark gray color type of stitching as opposed to fabric. We believe this type of knot was worn on early SS swords. It is also possible that this knot could have been worn on swords that were designated for other uses, such as Forestry/Hunting or other club organizations. Still, a very rare not.

Mint. $250.00

ACCOUT&P #36698C Army Officer's Sword Portepee

This Army Officer's Sword Portepee still has the original tie strings around the leather strapping. The strapping, however, is still supple and in excellent condition. This strapping has the usual dual aluminum wire stitching which runs the length.

The slide below is covered in crochet-like bullion, revealing the metal beneath. The trim cord above the slide is a gray color. I mention this because the lower acorn ball is also covered in a gray cord as opposed to the usual bullion. The insert is a gray textured fabric.

An interesting Army Portepee here, probably produced by a small manufacturer. This is the first time I've seen this gray lower ball used with the standard green strapping.

Mint. $175.00

ACCOUT&P #36701 Unusual Police Officer's Degen Portepee

This portepee appears to have been used on a Police edges weapon. It has black strapping, which is still in pristine condition. The strapping is decorated with three silver wire lengths, and the center is left plain with the tow outside wires having the red highlights. This is opposite from what we normally see.

The slide is of intertwined black cloth with red and silver highlights, while the stem is the flat style with a silver, crochet-like bullion covering. The metal is visible beneath. The lower acorn ball is also covered in matching silver bullion. The stuffing inside is in red and black thread.

It is possible that I am wrong in identifying this portepee as a Police item, but it sure would look great on a fine conditioned Degen.

The slide is of interwoven leather, having red accents as well as bullion thread. The stem of the piece is the flat style, with a crochet-style aluminum covering with visible metal beneath. The lower, oval-shaped ball is of bullion, having red, white and black stuffing.

Given the supple condition of this portepee, it can be untied from the issue strings and put on to a finely conditioned Police Degen, or can be kept as a collectible in itself; the choice is the next owners. A real beauty here!
